Here at Harbor Docks, we pride ourselves on our fresh gulf
to table seafood, friendly nature and just overall great atmosphere for Destin
locals and tourists alike. However, our
pride truly remains in the quality of food we serve. We pride ourselves on this
outstanding quality of product as well as educating our customers about fresh
local fish. Check out our new commercial that is now airing on Cox TV about our
local fresh fish and what it means to us to be a seafood market.
To give you a little insight into the world of “fresh fish” here are some jawdropping facts. Although we’re surrounded by salty water, 90%
of Florida’s seafood will be imported from other countries. According to
Oceana, 50% of the tuna sold last year was mislabeled. The majority of
“tilapia” sold in the United States is raised in Vietnam & Thailand. These
fish are almost always fed pig feces. A shocking number of 93% of delicious red
snapper was mislabeled last year. So be cautious, because those snapper throats
you just ordered? Well they may not be snapper. Scary.
So how can you be sure you are getting fresh seafood? We’re
an excellent place to start. At Harbor Docks, we bring the gulf to the table by
catching our own fish. We also send our
fresh fish to a number of restaurants that serve our fresh local flavor.
So come on in and rest assured that you’ll not only enjoy our laid-back atmosphere but when you order flounder.. you’ll be eating flounder.
